Leroy Paige once said, “age is a question of mind over matter”, adding, “if you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter”. The second part of that phrase is a cute and humorous punchline on the more serious first sentence. Age is indeed a question of mind, or rather a state of mind.
Throughout the years it has been anecdotally, philosophically, and then scientifically proven that age is merely a mental state. Society’s notion of age – that is, that a person gets weaker, less active, less attractive, less creative and stale as their lifetime increases – is completely wrong. There is no way one can tell just by looking at someone what their true age is. Identifying someone by an arbitrary integer is predictably meaningless.
Age is about what is in the mind, not about what is in the body.
