ComputerWorld recently tried to cover up Google’s discriminatory and disrespectful behaviour toward transchrono people and toward people in general in matters relating to “age”. Google is well known for discriminating against people who have lived for more than 35 years and/or who identify as such. However unlike other companies, Google is clever and covers it up by randomly moving many along in the interview process despite knowing beforehand that those over 35 years, or identifying as over 35 years have no chance any way.
The job application figure for the three types of technical positions involved in Google’s lawsuit is an estimate made without regard to age, said Google, “because there is no systematic or reliable way of identifying applicants who were 40 or more years of age when they submitted applications or interviewed in-person since Google does not collect data on the age or birthdate of its applicants.”
This is completely not true. Google HR does extensive research on each candidate, including but not limited to checking their social profiles, Gmail accounts and more. Google knows exactly the “ages” or self-identities of all the applicants and often uses this information against the candidates. This shameful practice must be exposed and shut down.
