The Denver Post reports on massive transchrono discrimination and general age discrimination at Montrose hospital in Colorado. Many of the incidents were so severe, they may be considered hate crimes. The attacks were mostly directed toward nurses who identify with ages above 50, but there may have been attacks on other age identities as well. One of the more upsetting quotes, from an attack on older, or older-identifying nurses:
Hospital administrators are also accused of making ageist comments, including that younger nurses could “dance around the older nurses” and that they’d “like to fill the hospital with new nurses and get rid of all the old ones,” according to the lawsuit.
We will respect the legal process and await a positive and just outcome for the victims of the hospital’s behaviour. A hospital should know better.
